Replacing an Overhead Light Fixture

Jim gets over his fear of electrical wiring.

I'll try all manner of home repairs, sure in the knowledge that with Stephen and his experience just over my left shoulder, we'll manage to get through it together. Once we even renovated a half-bath in only 9 days, half of that time spent laughing at our foolishness. (Fixing our toilet.)

But I have always had great reservations about working on anything to do with wiring in a house. I either get our knowledgeable neighbor to do the work, or I bite the checkbook and call an electrician. They also have never failed to disappoint me in either the speed with which they do the work or the huge fees they charge for it, as I calculate, currently about $500 an hour.

So here I am to report that I did indeed replace an old ceiling light fixture (track lighting overhead in an alcove) with a new and simpler fixture which is more appropriate to the renovation we are doing. And I did it for $10. If you want to read about the details, take this link Replacing an overhead light fixture.
