Christmas 97December 26, 1997 To our friends: We're sorry that our yearly letter is so late; this Christmas just crept up on us. Stephanie graduated from law school, got a good job in Boston, moved to a roomier townhouse, passed her bars, and took adoption classes. We did spend a week with her and partner, Dawn, in May, and took in several of the wonderful activities available there, including a trip to Provencetown. Stephen serves on the vestry at Trinity, sings in the choir, is Head Sacristan, and schedules the alter personnel. In addition, he has a new business, selling a natural non-toxic health care discovery made by Mannatech, the leader in the nutriceutical industry. I am currently managing four grants at work, teaching my usual load and beginning dimly to perceive retirement seven years down the road. I do enjoy teaching teachers to use the Internet. In my spare time I still play the piano. I've even achieved some local recognition as a ragtime composer. Our cat, Leonard, has never given up hope that someday we will leave the door open on the birdcage when we go to work and Gilbret will get out. (So far, so good.) He's not doing bad for a 15 year old cat. We had a hard time in August, as my friend and colleague, John Ellsworth, died. Most of you know that his wife, Rosanda Richards-Ellsworth, is a close personal friend of mine and colleague at SIUE. Brother Tom's daughter Heidi gave birth to Ariana Danielle in November. This is the first child in the new generation, so Tom and Dee are grandparents, mom's great grandmother, and I'm a granduncle. About moving, don't ask. We almost have the kitchen done. For the sake of your internet junkies, my e-mail is jandris@siue.edu, and my web page is http://www.siue.edu/~jandris. Stephen's e-mail is SNichols3@compuserve.com Most of all, if you received this letter, it means that you are still dear to our hearts. We wish you a prosperous and fulfilling new year in 1998. Love, |
