Interviews

Over a period of several years starting 2010, I did hour long interviews of people who played a significant role in creating the "first" St. Louis Pride celebration in 1980. These interviews were done under the auspices of the St. Louis LGBT History Project.

  • Jim Pfaff, by Jim Andris, 5/9/2012 at my home
  • I wrote this widely read and appreciated tribute, Rest in Peace, Jim Pfaff, when he died in January of 2022.
  • Suzanne Goell, by Jim Andris, 8/20/2013, phone interview
  • I wrote this history of the significant community newspaper, No Bad News, based on the interview with its founder, Suzanne Goell.
  • Jim Thomas, by Jim Andris, 7/17/2012 at my home
  • Jane Levin, by Jim Andris, 12/6/2013 phone interview
  • I wrote this article on the St. Louis Organizing Committee, which organized St. Louis' partipation in the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979.
  • Pat Murrell, Judy Hunter, Janet Utley, 8/14/2013 file and transcript at my home, viewing and discussing slides of Pride 80. Steve Brawley and Jim Andris present.
  • Cea Hearth (Glenda Dilley, by Jim Andris, 2/9/2014 at my home)
  • In 2014 there was a call for marshalls from the 1980 Pride Parade. I worked with Ellen Vanscoy, and we got the participation of Cea Hearth, Bill Spicer, Frank Sprayberry (RIP), John Hilgeman, and Jim Pfaff.
  • I also have put up a tribute site for Cea Hearth which contains a lot of the original Pride music written and performed by her.
  • Allan Levin, 5/14/18. Tee shirt maker from late 70s, early 80s
