of us

What fun this week has been, my friend,
What peace I've had with you.
We've shared life's beauty on the run
And quiet moments, too.
We rushed the rugged coastline,
And we walked along the beach,
The mountains and the ocean
Lying well within our reach.
We traced the mighty redwood
Soaring single, straight and high.
We walked in scented woods
And lay and looked up at the sky.
We sat and shared good music
We tasted of good wine
And drove through hills and valleys
In weather warm and fine.
We dined in places elegant
And places not too bad.
We danced, and you accepted
Who you were; for that I'm glad.
I almost cried this morning
When we finally had to part.
I can't express the sad and welling
Feeling in my heart.
You held me and you cared for me
In intimate embrace.
and I, in turn, caressed
Your hands and body and your face.
You gave your warmth and love to me,
In fact, you gave me you,
And much to my surprise I find
I've given me to you.
It must be love I feel for you
My kindred soul and friend
Tom Manuel, you've captured me,
I'm yours until the end.
And I was.
