Peace can rule this planet; harmonize our lives.
Let's replace with understanding all those guns and knives.
If you love your neighbor, he can love you, too.
Don't be so suspicious of those different from you.
There is an old, old dream that has been around for a long, long time.
Most of us once have seen it; but it's so hard to mean it.
How can it always come so close and yet be so far away,
And what can we do to make it real today?
Second chorus:
Love can help create it: a rainbow 'round the earth.
Let's stand up for peace and show our leaders what we're worth.
You and I can do it starting with today.
Let's join hands and show the world that there's a better way.
Those of us who have traveled around a lot in this wide, wide world
Know there's a celebration in each and every nation.
If you will smile you'll find that you usually get a smile in return.
