Who has Jim Andris become?
He grew up in the closet, toilet trained by homophobic men in an
age of oppression. But somewhere along the way he discovered a way
out, through risk, adventure, and always, a song. In the words of
one of his songs, “It was hard to describe him, but he’s
often been compared to a butterfly, fairy or elf, and he wanted to
try to be a little less shy. He just wanted to be himself.” This
musical review records the essence of my very delayed and delightful
adolescence. |
