Song's from a Gay Man's Heart, Act 1

Act 1 of this musical review finds Jim reflecting on his childhood, and the gradually unfolding realization that he was "different from the other boys." He was also musically talented, and began writing his first song at age 17. By his twenties he was writing songs about his difference.

The 1970s were Jim's coming out decade, and as he says, he didn't just come out, he blew the door off the hinges. We see his first failed attempt at a permanent relationship with Jonathan, his first true love affair, and his exciting adventures in the mid 1970s in San Francisco. Finally, we hear about his soulmate, Tom Manuel, their friendship, and Tom's death to AIDS in 1990.
