His Crackling Blue Eyes

As exciting as my trip west was, meeting Tom was by far the trip's greatest outcome. We didn't click in bed, because our fantasies got in the way. Yet, from the beginning, I loved Tom Manual with my heart and soul. With his crackling blue eyes and ebony hair he fired a memory in me of a life in China, with me as his cherished and treasured wife.

Over the years we travelled to places of pure and natural beauty, ate and drank in the finest restaurants, stood in awe in wonderful cathedrals and museums and explored the sexy places of the world. He always took care of me, and I did my best to love and care for him. Still, we lived 1000 miles apart and shared only a few days or weeks each year.

Tom has been the inspiration of several songs. In 1977, we took a trip to the Redwood forest in Northern California. As the two of us lay beneath an enormous tree, I found myself in the grips of a joyful melody and an enigmatic lyric.
