A Funny Story about Tom

But I've taken us too far in Fthe future. I'll tell you a funny story about Tom and me. After my first visit with him, I went on down to Monterey for a week on the beach. But I had had such a wonderful time with Tom that I decided to drop in on him on the way back. He was glad to see me, but I could tell there was something wrong.

Finally, he blurted out, "I might have given you the clap. I had
sex with a black woman I was dating right before I met you and I think that's where I got it. You might want to go to a doctor on the way home if you feel ill."

Sure enough, as I was driving across the California mountains, I began to feel woozey and my throat started to get scratchy. I stopped in Tahoe and asked Ron, whom I had met on the way over, what I should do. He sent me to the Tahoe Health Clinic, where a very friendly nurse gave me a prescription of tetracycline.

So there I was, driving across Wyoming with my first case of VD, with a wonderful adventure behind me. It's the closest thing to basic training I ever had experienced. And weaving along the highway, I wrote this song.
