Luellen,
With a smile from a source that is ever within you welling,
With a style that is free,
With a wisdom from which I learn
Where to turn
Every day.
I need you,
And to some other person I never could quite concede you.
How my heart starts to pound
When you're not to be found, for
If you should ever leave me,
All that we have achieved would go—
Never again to know your warm, sharing, loving care.
So hold me
And repeat and repeat all the wonderful things you've told me.
In exchange for your love
I will give it right back to you.
Show your love
So true.
I want you,
Yet I'm constantly careful to do what would not affront you.
If I arrest your sleeping
Just to control my weeping,
Tell me, how could I justify this use of you?
How I love you!
So teach me
How to do all the things that enable you more to reach me.
How to say all the words
That will help us both more to grow,
That's the love
To show.
