Even If You HateThe expectations of holiday cheer magnifies the impact of one's feelings from the darker side … © Glenda Dilley/Cea Hearth, November, 1979 I wrote a Christmas carol, and this is called "Even If You Hate for Christmas." It's an atypical Christmas carol; it was born from a party I went to for children in an institution, and try as they might, they couldn't put on a happy face and enjoy the Christmas spirit, but the world was too much with them. This feeling stuck in my mind, and I had to go home and write a song about that. Even if you hate for Christmas that's ok too May you speak out you hatred Even if you're mad for Christmas that's ok too May you take all the burning Even if you're sad for Christmas that's ok too May you treasure the learning Even if you hate for Christmas |
