I Don't Know Why I Should Worry

About the function of love in the universe, we can say nothing for certain…

© Glenda Dilley/Cea Hearth, December, 1978

Ok, this next song is a song about love, a love song about what I think or I might think about love or some of it, something

I don't know why I should worry
   when love resides within me
I don't know why I should worry
   when love resides within me
It wears many faces, it tells many stories
   this love
Such wonderful stories and terrible stories
   this love

I don't know why I should worry
   when you resides within me
You're part of my memory, you're part of
my story, you're part of the world that I see
But why does love fade away?
why does it leave me in pain?
Why does love fade away only to
   come back again

Well, you know, if I could answer that question
I'd be worth a million or two
Still, for free, I've got a suggestion
That I'd like to offer you:
Perhaps love's destruction is just the combustion
   we need
To rise from our ashes like the Phoenix
   that flashes and is freed

I don't know why I should worry
when the Phoenix fell from the sky
Although she died, she rose from her ashes
And I know so will I
Perhaps love's destruction is just the combustion
   we need
To rise from our ashes like the Phoenix
   that flashes and is freed

I don't know why I should worry
when death comes right before birth
I don't know why I should worry
when heaven and hell are on earth
Perhaps love's destruction is just the combustion
   we need
To rise from our ashes like the Phoenix
   that flashes and is freed

I don't know why I should worry
when there's love that resides within me
