Listen to your friends when they say what you should do.
They're telling you that they care for you, and they want the best for you.
And though you disagree with them, you know there'll come a day
When you see that your friends are there to help you stumble on your way.
And look at all the lovers looking back at you.
Don't think they'll run for cover should you see what you could do.
There may not be an ember that you'll set inside their soul.
But, boy, they will remember that your love for them was whole.
And if you walk the streets at night to straighten out your mind,
Do you have to ask the ones you pass to find out if they're blind
To the questions and the lonliness that lies inside your heart?
They realize, yest, they surely must, that the world is tearing you apart.
When you think that life is ugly, and your hour is near to twelve.
And you start to pull the plug, leave it! You know, you made it bad yourself.
You can choose to loose the blues!
You can see to being free!
Do you think it would help if y ou told all your troubles to me?
And the secret you've been hiding from the world and from yourself,
The part that you're deriding, that you're keeping on the shelf—
If you took the chance and shared it with your friends and lovers all,
Would it chance to take the hole out of the man against the wall?
